A Message from the Vice-Chancellor
Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University has been dedicated to the mission of creating a knowledge driven human resource pool that will contribute to sustainable economic growth and social transformation. The rapidly changing society today is facing a number of challenges. An open university is a social instrument to address these issues of immense importance. With a portfolio of diversified student communities and faculty members an open university must act as a window mechanism to upgrade its technical abilities so that it can serve the society in the best possible and it has been our unifying endeavour at KKHSOU to generate an intellectual property as well as human resource which finds a secured place in the labour market.
The forces that nourish the distance mode of education have been rapidly changing. The expectation from an institution of open education has naturally been so high. With a gross enrollment target of 30% by 2020 in higher education, we certainly have a long path to tread. It is a path full of uncertainties, risks and to a large extent burdensome. The spread of higher education in India's north-east is a top priority, and we at KKHSOU, must come forward to shoulder this responsibility. We are certain that with sustained efforts that began in 2005, KKHSOU can pave the way for enormous possibilites where the talents of the North-East can be nourished.
KKHSOU in its next Vision Document will come forward to focus exclusively on creating a platform where access to higher education for the marginalized and oppressed sections of the society will be a reality. We will be guided in all our activities by knowledge, wisdom and humanity. The mission is to create an impact beyond the Academic with an emphasis on economic, social and cultural transformation of the society.
