Betterment option is applicable to Master Degree Learners only.For clearing a particular course of a particular programme upto the final degree a minimum of 35% marks,which comprise the marks obtained from term end examination and home assignments as indicated are required. Only One Chance will be given to candidates for betterment in the next session. For availing repeat performance or Betterment a candidate has to apply using specific betterment form which is available in the website within one month from the date of declaration of result. Betterment chance can be availed of only for two papers in one Semester.

To be eligible to appear for the Term End Examination in any course, the students are required to fulfill the following conditions:
(a) Their registration for the programme should be valid .
(b) They should have opted and pursued the prescribed course.
(c) They should have submitted the required number of assignments within due dates before taking the examination.
(d) They should have submitted the examination form in time along with the requisite fees, if appearing for Back papers.
The University conducts term end examinations twice a year, once for Odd semesters and once for Even semesters. Examination date schedule indicating the date and time of examination for each course is sent to all the study centres in advance.The same is also notified in the University website.

What is the procedure to correct my name/subject name in the admit card/ marksheet ? Is there any fees I have to pay for it?

If your name in the university Registration Certificate is correct, but wrong in the admit card/mark sheet, then you must send your admit card/mark sheets to the Controller of Examinations with an application forwarded by the Coordinator of your study centre for correction.
If your name in the university Registration Certificate is incorrect, and if you send back Registration Certificate/ admit card / mark sheet to the Controller of Examinations within a month (as per the university rule) of issue of Registration, then the university will issue a fresh corrected Registration Certificate and also correct all documents for free. If your name in the university Registration Certificate is incorrect, and if you send back Registration Certificate/ admit card / mark sheet to the Controller of Examinations after one month from the date of issue of Registration card (as per the university rule) for correction, then you have to pay Rs. 300/- for correction of Registration Certificate and Rs. 100/- for correction of each documents.

One can request for re-scrutiny/ photocopy/ re-evaluation of their maximum 3 numbers of answer scripts within one month each from the declaration of the result with a payment of fees of Rs. 100/-, Rs. 200/- and Rs. 300/- respectively. Time required for the declaration of each result is maximum 30 days. That is, 30 days for result of re-scrutiny, after getting the result of re-scrutiny he/she can apply for photocopy, then again maximum 30 days for photocopy and so on. Is it possible to change the examination centre? Let me know the procedure.

One can change his/ her examination centre only after approval from the Controller of Examinations. For this, the candidate have to send an application to the Controller of Examination through proper channel elaborating his/her problems in details at least one month before the commencement of the said examination. The Controller of Examinations will see the documents and other factors and accordingly allow the candidate to sit in the examination centre as fixed by him only after a payment of Rs 300/- as new examination centre fees.

A learner has to apply to the university through proper channel by enclosing the following documents-

  • A police report
  • A paper cut out in any daily news paper
  • A challan of Rs 400/- for correction of Registration Certificate and Rs. 100/- for correction of each documents

The fees of examination form fill up for back candidates, regular candidates and betterment candidates (Master Degree only) are same. The fees are as follows- Examination Center fees- Rs. 300/- (for Master Degree only), Rs. 200/- (for Other all) Examination fees per paper- Rs. 200/- Mark sheet fees- Rs. 50/- Late fine fees- Rs. 200/- (if a candidate pay examination fee after due date with prior permission) The details are available in the university prospectus.

When will 1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th/6th semester examination be held?

All the Odd semesters (1st, 3rd and 5th) will be held in the month of January, February and March. While all the Even semesters (2nd, 4th and 6th) will be held in the month of June, July and August.

Dissertation must be prepared under the guidance of a professionally qualified supervisor. The length of the report may be between 60-70 pages. Detailed guideline is available in the website.

Chose a specific topic related to any form of mass communication /journalism/public relations/ advertising/media etc. and prepare a comprehensive project report after doing an in-depth study of the topic. The topics will be decided in consultation with recognized Course Counsellors or media scholars, researcher or media professionals. What are the important rules to be followed for audio-visual production in 6th semester of BA Journalism and Mass Communication?

As far as the audio/audio-visual production is concerned, the learner will have to prepare an audio (for eg -radio drama) or audio-visual clip on any area of communication/media along with a script. The audio clip can be submitted in AVI, MP3 or in WAV format. Audio-visual files can be submitted in MPEG, MP4, m4v, DAT or VOB formats.
